The Carling Cup

I was tempted this weekend to back Fulham again after their victory midweek against Blackburn but I had a feeling that Bolton would be desperate to get back on track after 3 successive league defeats and was proved right after picking up a point at Fulham. So I just decided to sit back and watch the Merseyside derby this weekend and was thrilled to see Liverpool beat Everton, even though we rode our luck at times but in Pepe Reina Liverpool have a world class keeper and long may this type of performance continue.

Midweek sees the return of the Carling Cup and the fixture that interests me is the Man City Vs Arsenal game tomorrow night, the bet for me is Man City to win at 21/20 with William Hill. I was expecting 4/5 or 4/6 on City winning so odds against is a great price in my eyes. Arsene Wenger is very loyal to his youngsters in this competition whereas City will field a very strong team with experience. I strongly believe that City will have that bit extra to see off Arsenals youngsters and Mark Hughes will see this competition as a stepping stone for bigger things, if City are to break into the top 4 they need the experience and mentality of winning trophies and The Carling Cup could prove vital to Manchester City this season.

Good Luck All.

  1. Agree with your sentiments, Man City should win this but I think it could be close.
For an odds on cert, I would defo look at Notts County who are at home to bottom of the league Darlington tonight.
Odds are approx 1/3 so you will need to chuck a few quid on, but I think this is nailed on.

  2. Yeah, Notts County should win tonight and look like banker material but the odds are too skinny for me to get involved.

    Cheers tho Alex

  3. Good luck tonight with your City bet. Two of my work colleagues are travelling up tonight to watch it (One being an Arsenal fan).
Take a look at The Groundhoppers blog in a few days he does some brilliant articles.
Notts County came in nicely last night, easy 4-0 win !

  4. Thanks, I see that City have been clipped into 10/11 with William Hill now.

Yes, Notts County came in like a 1/3 shot, good shout!

  5. Good result for Man City tonight, well done.
